Setting the scene: Beautiful Autumn. It calls for a renewed focus. For sitting around a fire and discussing life’s big ideas with friends. As the air chills and the nights start to draw in you stoke your fire with some life changing poetry, philosophy and drama. Come in and curl up with some delicious wine, some hot tasty grub and a whole banquet of food for thought!

King Lear is an ancient folktale that was passed down orally from generation to generation. The story was adapted, embellished and changed to suit the speaker. And then Shakespeare got his hands on it! He created a play that has challenged, shocked and inspired people for hundreds of years and is one of the most magnificent examples of his genius. It’s not easy, but by goodness is it worth it.

We will read KING LEAR at Claire’s cosy home in Islington and then go to THE WYNDHAM’S THEATRE in the West End to watch the unbelievably exciting KENNETH BRANAGH production, for which he is both director and playing the title role.
